Thanks for the link Klondike,  they look like the one he fitted,  so pity I didn't know earlier.  Can't be  helped.
I would rather him check the wiring anyway because I couldn't have done that myself.

It wasn't owner,  he usually comes,  but  he sent a very nice lad -   even offered to hoover round to pick up his bits of mess he'd left.
He took the old light away for me, and the plastic shade it had been in because this new Led one doesn't need the shade now.
I am pleased with it because I had said I didn't want a bright white light  (it hurts my eyes),  so he brought a nice soft white which is good.

I don't know what they will charge yet,  as he usually takes about a fortnight to send the bill.

Me too,  Granny.   It kept saying to try again later.
I hadn't a clue what Cloudflare was,  never heard of it before.
Was it scammers up to no good again?

Cloudflare is used by a fair portion of the Internet. I use them as the domain name provider - that registers and reserves the name letschat.club and as the main DNS server - that tells your browser what IP address the web server can be found at. There are other techy things it does to protect the server from nasty stuff.

It wasn't hackers,  do you think?

klondike

No idea and they probably won't say. I do think it is odd that Amazon was knocked out a few weeks ago too - both huge providers with a lot of expertise and doubtless some pretty rigorous procedures to catch human errors and automatically bypass or quickly recover from hardware problems.

If you follow what is happening in the world you will know that there have been quite a few undersea cables deliberately damaged. Numerous Incursions into NATO airspace by drones often leading to airport closures. Acts of sabotage. There are concerted attempts to destabilise the West constantly happening. Huge bot farms of Russian trolls. When I've bothered to check any of the IP addresses of any of the large number of blocked sign up attempts even here they will often be from sources such as these...
https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/95.182.125.89
https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/46.148.206.226
and many other eastern europe VPNs

So was it hackers? I wouldn't be betting against that.

GrannyMac

Woodhead was closed earlier.  Bitter here, no snow.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I don't think my council can afford any show. They'll probably have to settle for a bit of sleet again.
