He's pulling your leg, my dad had a big train set when I was young and I got to play with it sometimes. It wasn't like today's train sets, it was really quite big. Engines were about 16ins long, separate tenders, carriages just a wee bit smaller than the steam engines, umpteen boxes of track it had to be set up outside as it was far big for the house, no matter the rooms were huge in the dower house, mum and Nana refused to have it under their feet. Don't know what happened to it, I left home at 16 and it was still there then, but????

Have you at least got a scalextric then?  I'll settle for that instead.

Or a decent pair of hiking boots in a size 8?

Quote from: Raven on Yesterday at 09:55:59 AMMorning, Not bad here Sun's out and the winds more a breeze. Been to the pool and drank my latte at the beach, missed the ocean while I was away.
Met the surgeon and had another scan, seems I'll be ok for keyhole surgery but I'm to be awake for the operation, go in on the 13th of November and the operations the next day.
Finding the hospital and then getting parked was a nightmare, I'd never have found it on my own.
Away to get the washing done, then out on the ropes.
You must feel a little bit better knowing its keyhole, Raven,  as I know you were pretty scared about open heart surgery.
It will perhaps not take as long this way,  and you will mend quicker too.
Best of luck.

Thanks Mups and yes the weight has lifted off my shoulders a wee bit, but it's still on my mind all the time, I'll be so glad when it's over. The recovery even for keyhole is seemingly quite long. Not even allowed to drive for four to six weeks, lots n lots of rest, no lifting, no pool for several months and definitely no Clydesdale beach rides.
Life is not going to be fun for a good long while.  [1100]
BUT, I should be able to breathe properly and that will be brilliant.

Six weeks recuperation time.  That does seem long.  But, ultimately the rest will do you good, even if it means you better half has to get off his posterior more to chip into the gristle of life.

Dunc has been working on the farm since he was very young. Lazy is one thing he's not.

Bugger!

He actually sold the farm a couple of years ago as he has no kids to pass it on to. He kept our wee bungalow and 4 big fields as they sit about a quarter mile from the actual farmhouse and has a separate entrance. He also kept the tractor for working the ground. That way he had a familiar place for his Clydes, and a field to grow crops for the Clydes, and another field to switch the Clydes. He has the Clydes fields divided in two so it gives the grass a chance to grow again while the Clydes are in one side only. The young couple who now own the main farm are new type and don't do things the way farming is done here, Dunc often finds himself working along side to help out and kind of teach them how it's done up here.
But he takes time off when he wants to, but he always works for the Council in the winter too, using the tractor to clear snow from the village streets and the main Coast Rd if needed. We do get time to pop over to both Orkney and Shetland these days to see friends and attend the famous Up Helly Aa in Lerwick. He's not much for travel but he likes coming to my place in Perth for the a few days, he knows his precious Clydes are ok as his pal Mark looks in on them every day for feeding and stabling at night.
