Mups

I am really tired of this unrelenting heat now,  so are my poor dogs.
We all had a dreadful night trying to sleep,  and I've got to drive into Bedford this afternoon to visit my Chiropractor.

I got the MRI results for my lower spine,  and its not good.
It's all in doctors jargon,  but the gist of it is that I've got spondylosis, joint degeneratoin, and a trapped nerve root - hence the feeling of electric shocks shooting down my right leg.
In other words, it looks like my lower back is knackered.  :worried:

Raven

Aww Mups  :hugs: at least you now know what's what and it gives them scope to know where to work on you.

Aww!! Mups.. Poor you..
I do understand .. I'm not comparing my pain to yours.. please don't think that..
I have had a trapped nerve in my back for years.. and I have Sciatica.. Bloody painful..
My back pain seems worse in the warmer weather.. could be wrong..
Perhaps there will be some medication that will help you..
I do hope so...
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

I looked that up. IMO it's probably going to be the trapped nerve that causes the biggest problem. The other stuff is par for the course past middle age and especially in women. A chiropractor showed me my X-Ray with those bony spurs that were mentioned in what I read when I was in my 50s. I imagine I still have them but not the horrible back pain that was why I went to see one.

The good news is that trapped nerves can sometimes fix themselves. I had something quite recently that was causing pretty intense short term pain in one leg. By the time I got the physio appointment it had pretty much sorted itself but he did at least give me the right name for what I'd had.

Keep your fingers crossed...
Hope either they fix it or it just gets better anyway.

Mups

Thank you once again for the kind remarks.  You are a lovely lot.

Klondie,  I have been to the chiropractor today,  and she has given me a lot of advice as well as a good going-over.
The GP has also made me a Physio appointment too,  but that's not until nearer the end of this month.

I have also joined a gentle exercise class on Mondays mornings now,  so I am trying hard to get better again.   I did Yoga for many years until all Covid stuff came about.

I think I will also go back onto my old 5:2 diet and lose a bit of weight,  that should help too.
You remember Dr. Michael Mosely who died while on holiday a little while ago,  well the 5:2 was devised by him.   It's nothing silly or extreme,  and it works for me  -  and another plus is,  no silly  slimming club fees 'cos I can do it myself from the book.

Who knows,  by Christmas I might look so young and fit, people will take me for 21 again.

Water based exercise is brilliant Mups.  I rarely swim but I go to an aqua aerobics class two or three times a week.

I was at the hospital yesterday, being given an overview of what happens during and after knee replacement surgery.  Losing a lot of weight has improved things, but my knee isn't going to get better so I've agreed to surgery.  I'm seeing the consultant again in September, then I'll get a date.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Dull, overcast and horribly humid. So good to have something other than the glaring heat to moan about it 😋

Ruthio

So sorry to read about your troubles Mupsy, water exercise is good (the changing clothes is a fag though!)

Alex

I've been doing a bit of stripping today, cream crackered now

I had never really considered water exercises Mac,  but it makes sense.

I haven't been in a swimming pool since my school days,  perhaps because a horrible girl there held my head under water and I truly thought I was a gonna.
I can remember to this day, seeing my Mum's face appear in front of me as I couldn't hold my breath any more.  Scary stuff.
Where were the life guards, and teachers, and people responsible for keeping an eye on the school kids then!

I never did report her,  probably too scared I suppose,  but some weeks later I gave her a good punch at school one day, and told her that was for trying to drown me.
Marilyn her name was, and she had long ginger hair and freckles.  I have remembered that all these years!

However,  I will give your idea  (and Raven's) some thought.   I don't even know where to buy a swimming costume these days.  There's nothing but tatoo parlours, barbers,  and nail bars  round here nowadays.

I get my swimming costumes from ebay. I have around a dozen now. :busted:

A dozen??  What on earth for?    :hmm:

They are different sizes as my weight used to chop n change, some I really liked, some were real bargains I couldn't resist. I also find the chlorine starts to rot them after a while and they need binned despite being washed and rinsed after each swim. I always have a spare one in my bag, you just never know. It's been over 2 years since I looked at them on ebay, but it was hard to stay off the site, some of my swimmies are around ten years old, just never got around to wearing them. Also Regan and Lily borrow them when they stay here for a visit.
