Quote from: klondike on Today at 12:40:15 AMI gave up on VM years ago. The way that cable works limits upload bandwidth. If you get somebody nearby running torrents (dodgy downloads) who doesn't really know how to it can clog up the upload and that also gives problems with download.

Sometimes when they add or reconnect a house on your cabinet they can mess up the voltage and their modems are prone to work badly if it is too far out.

They are also prone to over subscribing too.

Complain. They should come out. If it is a voltage problem that's an easy fix. If your local section is suffering congestion for any reason they can take an absolute age to sort it out.
Thanks Klondy,   I will have to look into it, as its driving me nuts.   What's worrying me though, is  that I won't understand what they tell me,  especially if its a foreign person.,  they always talk so quick.

My computer man looked at it yesterday and went through all the security etc, because I worried I might have got a bug as I've got a sudden increase in spam emails too,    but there didn't seem to be any bugs, in fact  he said everything looked good.    He checked the upload speed and it was only 1.09 though, and he said same as you,  ring Virgin.

I've been with TalkTalk for 20  years or so.  In  the beginning I had problems, but they got their act together and (touch wood) all ok with them.

Just did a speed test, and the results said  . .  'Intermittent signal in your area.'
