Alex

I've made some ginger biscuits this morning   :ugh:  :ugh:  :ugh:

My only expertise in biscuits was in eating them and I'm well on the way into giving that up now. I'm not sure if losing weight makes folk live longer but I'm sure that it feels longer.

Just made a pot of soup and did a tidy up, lazy day. Looking forward to getting back to the pool tomorrow.

I used sweeteners instead of sugar, think that's why they're crap

Might be that the sugar has some sort of structural properties as well as just being sweet so it affects the texture of the biscuit.

Losing weight has helped my dodgy knee, and given me more energy! 3 stone and a few lbs now. I hate unsweetened coffee and sweeteners are a bit yuck, sugar free salted caramel syrup is lush! I also mix it with natural yogurt sometimes too.  A big bottle which lasts ages from TKMaxx £5.

Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Glad you've found something to enjoy. I have one or two guilty secrets but they have to be indulged in moderation. I cleared out my stock of most naughty stuff a while ago and rarely buy more.

I'm on a bit of a plateau right now which takes effort to move on from - it isn't the first. I could just stick here and be a lot fitter than I was but I'd like to shed some more pounds which I do as much by exercise as by reduced calories. It isn't really the weather to actively enjoy that though. I do have a couple of gym sessions most weeks and will probably carry on with those even though I mostly started that because winter was coming.

That's brilliant, GrannyM.   Really well done.  :upvote:

How did you do it?   Did you join a slimming class,  or DIY at home?

I have used the 5:2 Diet book in the past, and with very good results.   I lost just over 2 stone and felt so much better.
Then like a fool -  I stopped.

I have put my weight back on again and its so disappointing even though its my own silly fault.

Must get my book out, and begin again  -  like tomorrow!

Two things Mups.  I was diagnosed as pre diabetic just over a year ago, and forca few months I went to a group where we were given advice, and weighed, via the NHS.  I also joined Slimming World, a couple of friends I go to exercise classes with were already going.  I did that before and never stuck it out, putting weight back on, but this time I've hardly missed a week, and my weight loss has been steady.  I got to my goal weight just before Christmas, so far so good. 🤞🏼

The advice on the NHS course directed my food choices in a similar way to Slimming World.  Very little processed food, sugar and fat, lots of veg, fruit, protein. Sugar, in all sorts of guises, was my downfall before.  I knew what to do, but wasn't motivated, now I am.

Thanks GrannyM.     :upvote:   I've heard a lot of good reports on Slimming World.

Yes,   saw it in the paper.  Mid 70's I believe, wasn't she?

I have been to the audiologist this morning.
Thought you'd like to know these things.
