Aye.  Was hoping to to a bit of outdoor diy, but am going off that idea.

Had a health check at GPs and they included a blood test. Seems they've just started doing them there again. I think I'd rather go to the hospital. It hurt when she took it and I noticed in the shower this morning there is a big bruise. Those at the hospital are doing them all day every day and you hardly notice when they take it.

I prefer the hossie too, I'm an awkward customer in that they can never find a good enough vein !
As you say they're doing it every day at the hospital and are much more adept than the surgery nurses.

That happened to me once, too.   Awful woman was very rough doing it because she said she couldn't find a vein.    I ended up with 4 & half inch bruise.  Went from one side of my arm right across to the other.

Hope your results are good. :upvote:

I had blood test last Friday.. The nurse tried one arm.. Veins too fine.. She tried to get some blood out but no luck.. Tried the other arm where the veins were more noticeable .. She said she would use a finer needle.. Result.. No bruising..

The nurse who did my Flu jab plus Covid was like a bloody whaler.. She went in for the kill.. Painful..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

My veins are easy to find for blood. It was insufficient practice rather than sadism I'm sure. She was friendly enough. The bruise is nowhere near as big as Mups and looks to be getting better already. Perhaps I'm just a wimp.

My last dip in the pool until next year! I can't go to class on Friday as I'm taking the youngest granddaughter out for lunch.

Glad yours wasn't too bad.
She made a right mess of my arm,  I very  nearly reported it.

As a diabetic, I have periodic blood tests at the GP.  I must say that I am very impressed with the nurses who do that there, as they are straight in without missing the vein and there is little or no bleeding afterwards.

Of course, I help by making sure I have good veins!  🤣

You'd have thought that someone would have found a way to fix a permanent tap to draw blood as and when, rather than having to jab a new needle in every time.

No one else has ever had any problems with my veins either,  it was only that one awful woman.

My GP surgery hasn't done bloods for years.  We  have to make an appointment at the local hospital.

We have a drive through. It's really easy, you don't even have to get out of your car. It's in an old ambulance station. It was set up during Covid, I think it's useful, fewer people using the hospital car parks!

I walk to any hospital appointment. By the time I can't do that I'll have a mobility scooter. There is no way I'll use the hospital car park.

We take the bus to one, the parking is awful. The other is hit and miss, so we usually go together so one can drive round, or leave and come back.  None of our hospitals are close enough to walk to.
