I've got the boiler man coming after lunch to see why my hot water keeps coming and going.
I have a horrible feeling its going to be expensive . . .

Had our jags this morning but I only had the flu one. The nurse seemed quite surprised and kept asking if I was sure I only wanted the one.
Hope I did the right thing.  :hmm:

Yep,  I'm same as you Scrumpy.    I can't be doing with 'Waste collection people',   or perhaps 'Boiler Person.'

Anyway, before he started,  I asked him if he thought it was worth doing the annual service if I was thinking about changing the boiler.   He said he would give it good check over and then tell me honestly whether he thought I should get a new boiler yet or not.  So I let him get on with it.

When he had finished,  he said other than a small bit  (I've forgotten the name of it  ),  he saw no reason to replace the boiler at all.    I really, really appreciated his honesty.  Some buggers would have just tried to flog me a new one.
He even told me that his own Worcester Bosch one at home,  was 20 years old, and he had no intention of replacing it while it was still running well.

Today's service cost £96.   Is that about what others here get charged?

Bright but cold.  I'm off to the pool in a wee while for an exercise class.  Out tonight for dinner at the Wednesday ground function suite with the crowd from the gym/pool.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I pay Homeserve Insurance for my boiler.. They service it every year and correct anything that is not right..  It is an old boiler and the guy has told me  'If it ain't broke.. don't mend it'..
Plenty of life left in her..

Eye test today.. boring..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

We use hometree, which is cheaper than home serve.  If we need a repair, it costs us a £60 call out fee, but all subsequent parts and Labour are free, as is the annual checkup.

I quite fancy a bit of pink or lilac in mine!  I'll have to pluck up the courage.

We use British Gas, it's expensive even with my discount as a retiree.  But it covers plumbing, drainage, electrics etc as well as the boiler and heating. Peace of mind when you can't do it yourself.

I also have drains and plumbing included..
They put replaced the taps on my kitchen sink because one had a slight drip.. without any hesitation..

Being a women living on my own I like to know everything is covered.. A bloke would probably have a poke around and come up with a result.. I am too scared to do that..
I can bleed radiators.. paint a shed and fence.. etc but plumbing is a 'no no'...

That's interesting Scrumpy.   I believe my house insurance covers drains and underground pipes.
I will have to rake out my Policy tomorrow and have another read  -  as long as it is written in way a layman/woman can understand!

Luckily, since my father was incapable of doing anything "normally" but could repair most things using "old Polish methods", I was brought up with a fix-it mentality.  I also wanted to do things as properly as possible, so learnt how to plumb, bricklay, decorate and plaster amongst other things.

But there are some things I simply won't touch.  Gas appliances beings within that list.  And (as mentioned previously), bring red/green colour blind prevents me from doing anything too technical on electrickery matters.
