As Alex has just said,  try fresh ginger and lemons,  it has worked for me in the past.
This is a little recipe for a drink I make  if I have a cold or sore throat..   Hope it helps.


1 fresh lemon.
Good size chunk of fresh ginger.
Honey.


1) Wash the lemon skin. Cut in half and remove all pips.
    Peel Ginger and rough chop it.

2) Put the entire lemon  (rough chopped), skin and all,   into a blender.
    Add the peeled, chopped ginger and a little hot water.
    Blitz it all into a milky looking liquid.

3) Strain this mix into a container and keep in fridge.  (It should last for several  days).

4)  Use this mixture to make a warm, soothing drink.   
     Put about 1cm of the milky liquid into a mug, then top it up with hot water.
     Add a good teaspoonful of good honey  (has natural anti-biotic properties) and stir.


You can drink this morning and evening,  although I've an extra cupfull sometimes, as I actually like the taste of the lemon, ginger and honey mix.  :smiley:
