Now there's posh

The gentleman that owns this wonderful craft invested a fortune in restoring an old Lakes Tug boat over many years. The result is an amazing vessel, very strong but luxuriously finished down to every small detail. On my cabin door rests the Title 'The Judges Chamber'. The 'Skipper' (my 'next door' neighbour) owned one of the biggest salvage companies in America and this 'Tug' was the first one they ever owned, so it 'retired' with him. I love it, it exudes, charm and peace, but expressed somehow within great strength and a feeling of well-being. Plus it has a very comforting chug, chug sound as it goes along, plus a super horn.

The shades a real Tiffany (I checked!). Evening times, we'd all gather in the bar (crew as well) and listen to our hosts wonderful stories about Salvaging back in the sixties etc, when he was working his way up the company his great grandfather started.

And with an illustrious history too Mike. By the way, they're all cricket nuts over here now. We had a 'viewing Party' yesterday at my place. Early breakfast, for the start (5.45 am) and my ex Test Pal provides rules and expert analysis throughout the day. We have a 'lunch break' of course, which lasts longer than the test match interlude, but thanks to Satellite recording, we don't miss a ball. Seventeen attendees in all and then off to the 'floating' bar and stern deck after play. 'Ben' is enormously popular over here - the Aussies after their dismissal of Bairstow were branded cheats, 'goddam democrats get everywhere'!

Just chugging along.. Love the sound..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

must admit that I think the Bairstow dismissal stinks - within the laws, but Bairstow clearly assumed that the over was finished - and he has a habit of wandering when the ball is dead.

I don't know cricket but there is a chance that the bloke who threw the ball actually thought he may be starting to take a run. OTOH he may just have taken advantage of an error in a pretty unsporting way.

Michael Rolls

the latter - Bairstow was clearly assuming - wrongly - that the ball was dead

Yes I heard that mentioned. As I said |I don't know the laws of cricket but I'm guessing it is clearly laid down when a ball is dead. I'd hope that all professional cricketers would too. An unfortunate error and if the thrower knew that it was a simple error pretty unsporting to take advantage of it.

exactly my view  - and that of many others

More fool Bairstow then, for assuming that everyone is of a sporting nature.  For some reason, it reminds me of the fooolishness of pedestrians who cross roads without looking, assuming that everyone is in the same mindset.
