I'm waiting for a train, off to Doncaster to take youngest granddaughter out for lunch and spend money on who knows what til we see it!
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

1st November already.   Doesn't time fly.

I am home this morning, just doing a bit of paperwork, and booking my boiler service,  then off to the eye dept. at the hospital to get my eyes checked.
My optician can't make out why my vision keeps changing so quickly.   I can't keep on having to buy new lenses!    :worried:

Apart from that,  hopefully a peaceful day.

Heading over to the village beach shortly, there's a film crew there. Something to do with a Viking Shoot, and my nose is bothering me.

It's another lovely day here again, sun is out and sky is blue, after lunch I think I'll give the lawns a final haircut. Supposed to go downhill weather wise over the W/E so will have to do it today. It's never stopped growing this year yet.

What was the Viking shoot about Raven?

Something to do with a TV Show, I got a couple of photos, but my phone was almost out of juice.

After a little lay-in this morning,   I finally got up,  had a shower,  bathed 2 dogs,  got the washing machine going,  had some breakfast and started my weekly accounts.
I will then go along to the garden centre in the next village to buy some polythene sheeting.

When I get back I will pull some carrots and a parsnip to have with my dinner later on.
Probably won't get the dogs clipped until tomorrow now.
I really do need some sunshine now,  its been that horrible dense grey for too long.

Why do you clip dogs with the cold weather approaching ?   I don't have a dog, so just asking  :hmm:

A double-coated dog should never ever be trimmed in the winter but single-coated dogs should be trimmed throughout the year, winter included.

Our long-haired cat is groomed every 8 weeks throughout the year.

Keeping cats warm is very important so the downstairs heating zone is set at 18c on constant, the stat is in the North facing front room & the South facing rear will be about 20c.

Also their beds are on a work surface, that's purely for them, so they don't get any floor-level cold air.

The upstairs, where I live, heating zone isn't on yet as, unlike the cats, I can put coats on to keep warm.
Make every day count, each day is precious.

I don't trim them very short like the show people do,  Alex,  but just a tidy up.

They don't have hair like most dogs,  Bedlington's are sort of fleecy, like a lamb's wool.  They also don't moult,  so it just keeps on growing and knots easily.

It also grows down inside their ear canals, and air can't circulate,  this has to be plucked to keep the ear clear and wax free.
It can also get in the way of their vision if you don't keep the eyes clear, too.   Bum gets hairy too!

After doing those bits I just run the clippers over the rest of the body to keep it tidy,  but as I said,  I don't do these exaggerated show clips, and they've both got warm, waterproof coats to wear in bad weather if necessary.

My Grand-dogs are Beagles, one is the normal three colour but Dave is tan and white, he moults dreadfully summer and winter !
