A controversial film has brought demonstrations outside a cinema in the Capital of Culture city, Bradford.  A petition has also appeared on line demanding the film is banned.
One day later, Sheffield was blessed with a similar demo, only this time the cinema manager capitulated !  Mob rule is their way, as the teacher in Batley can confirm.

Surely it was expected? Show a film about the daughter of the Prophet and offence will be found by some sect or other..

Life of Brian didn't go down too well in some circles either

I believe the writers made efforts not to show "anyone's"  face in this film, but the mob probably wouldn't know that.  I wonder if any of them actually watched the film ?

I assume they couldn't do that.

Why is religion such a crock? I find it baffling that a species can have the amount of knowledge that ours has figured out and still believe that our almost infinite universe with billions of galaxies each containing billions of stars can have been created by a deity whose main motivation is controlling what sort of antics we get up to on this single planet in all that immensity and punishing those who get it wrong.

A question for the ages mate. Preach love and peace, promulgate sectarian violence and hatred. Pro'bly one of man's greatest follies.. and there've  been some big ones..

I'm appalled that the cinema pulled the film. I believe its on Netflix.  I wonder how the mob will stop anyone watching at home?
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I now want to see a film I had never heard of, if those idiots want it banned it must be worth watching.

To think that that lot can intimidate the cinema manager into taking the film off like that so much for British freedom, can't think why these asylum seekers who say they have been persecuted think they are coming to a safe and  tolerant country.

I wouldn't bet on that...

The Lady of Heaven is a 2021 British epic historical drama film directed by Eli King in his directorial debut and written by the radical Twelver Shia Muslim cleric Yasser Al-Habib, the spiritual leader of The Mahdi Servants Union.
The film bills itself as the first movie on the life of the historical figure, Fatimah, during and after the era of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.  A young boy from Mosul, is orphaned when his mother is executed by Islamic State soldiers for teaching him a blasphemous song.  The boy is adopted by a soldier from Baghdad, and the serviceman's mother comforts the youngster by telling him the tale of the saintly Fatimah, whose example of strength she promises will keep him going in dark times.
The production values are decent, with impressive mud-brick sets and the kohl-eyed, vibrant-cloaked pagan rabble contrasting nicely with the austere Muslim camp. But with some half-baked performances, and the odd tinge of cockney creeping in, it feels a bit too apparent that the cast hail from closer to Mile End than Medina.

I dunno klondike, the trailer looks quite good !!!

It's been banned in various cities now, so it looks like what we can or can't watch, is being decided for us in UK mosques.

Only a cam version in the video stores that I visit. Maybe I'll get it later but of the two 2022 films I bothered with so far neither made it past the half hour point and I would expect that to join them.
