More mass killings in the USA..
.. Biden is puzzled as to why it happens more frequently in his country to that of others..

I have corrected my previous comments.. I was mistaken about Biden.

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I won't disagree with you there.  :check:

klondike

That was his rhetorical question to the American population.

He is in favour of strengthening controls. The NRA gun lobby aren't  and are politically influential. They will say that the way to stop school shootings is to arm the teachers.

Raven

I have never understood Amercia's love affair with guns.  [1080]

klondike

It's in their constitution.

That assumes that the way to keep government honest is for the population to have the right to bear arms so they can protect themselves from a corrupt government.

The problem with relinquishing such rights is that they will never be reinstated.

Raven

Well, IMO only. The longer they let folks  have guns the longer these awful attacks will go on happening.

klondike

The problem now is that the place is awash with guns. Passing laws will see the responsible folk hand theirs in. But....

In this country most gun crime is with illegal guns although there have been at least two random mass shootings involving a licenced owner that resulted in tighter controls. Hungerford and Dunblane.

Most Americans carry a firearm of sorts..
It is their way of life..
They are hell bent on protecting their Life.. Liberty and Property..
I doubt the gun laws will be changed.. A school shooting will probably encourage teachers to carry arms.. Fight a gun with a gun .. and so it goes on..
Mass shootings will become commonplace.. As with knife attacks in this country..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Not quite.

As of 2020 Thirty-two percent of U.S. adults say they personally own a gun.

Still way too many though!

So 68% unarmed amidst a load of John Waynes. Courageous.

One thing owning a gun but carrying a gun? I'm not sure that many do. Mind you, the kids of every family that do have one will know where it's kept..

The 2nd amendment will never be amended, so the
killing will never end.
The Cowboys started it all. :-)

No, WE did!! Around about 1776..

one interesting fact about the USA is that the states with the most restrictive gun laws tend to have the highest levels of firearm homicide with the reverse also being the case.
It's also virtually a given that we assume the USA has the most firearm homicides - figures a checked two or three years ago show, in terms of homicides per 100k of population places the USA in seventh place behind El Salvador, Jamaica, Venezuela. Mexico, Israel and Ireland (the Republic, not NI). This is despite the USA having vastly more firearms per head of population than those other countries, having 89000 firearms per 100k of population. I don't suppose for a moment anyone would be able to guess the country in second place for gun ownership - it's Switzerland, with 45,700, fractionally ahead of Finland - 45,300.
The comment that 32% of Americans own firearms seems at first to be at odds with the 89,000 figure - but many gun owners have more than one weapon, hence the apparent discrepancy.

I do not understand why the ability to buy military weapons and take them to a school and murder 21 people , mainly children, should be a protected constitutional right.

The Second amendment was given 250 years ago, the rest of the world has  moved on, why hasn't USA? Billy the Kid is dead, they do not need protection from him.
