Sky News has reported that according to a government source, immigrants arriving in UK will be sent to Rwanda for 'processing and settlement'
Apparently they're delaying issuing a statement until the Nationality & Borders bill is passed.

I'll believe this when I see it and I imagine some human rights lawyers are already working out ways to stop it !

Whether you're in favour of immigration or not, the UK cannot continue to accept this number of daily arrivals.

Raven

Sounds like a plan, if only they have the guts to carry it through. As for human rights lawyers pah, don't get me started on that bunch.  :nooo:

Botched. Add this to fishing and the Irish Sea border as stuff we never voted for.

https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/brexit/2021/01/17/the-brexit-deal-locks-the-uk-into-continued-strasbourg-human-rights-court-membership/

The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement contains a number of provisions 'locking-in' the UK's continued commitment to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). As with many other areas, far from closing arguments about the ECHR and human rights after Brexit, the deal shifts them further down the road, writes Frederick Cowell (Birkbeck College).

Alex

There is a lack of clarity on what will happen if the UK falls short of its commitments to protect rights. Whilst it is clear how withdrawal from the ECHR would terminate the agreement, it is much less clear how broader non-compliance with the ECHR, or the European Court of Human Rights would be dealt with.

There is a way, gutless politicians are afraid to test non-compliance.
Thanks for link

Nobody enforces international agreements sfaik. For instance who is going to enforce any breaches of human rights, Geneva  Convention etc. by the Russians in Ukraine. It's a case of politicians not wanting fingers pointed at them.

No problems we can fit the next days in too (542 capacity). I think they would have to share an outside toilet though

Will there be a time or a figure when the government will have to say ENOUGH ? perhaps when we've reached half a million arrivals, or a million ?

They haven't said enough with legals yet so they must think there is plenty of room left at the inn.

But have you seen the hoops that legal immigrants have to jump through! If it was easy, then there would be no money in it for the traffickers.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Should the government choose it could swap the hoops for needles. They choose not to despite net inward migration being in the region of a quarter million a year.

This century...
2000 58,923,309
Now  68,497,907
Presumably not including illegals

The character of the country has changed. Some will say for the better but I suspect more would say for the worse. This is clearly reckoned to be good for the country or the government would have acted to cut down the rate of those that it can control entering. Despite lots of words saying this would happen nothing effective has been done. Probably because a bigger population = a higher GDP which enables politicians to brag about growth.
