And serious child abuse.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Quote from: klondike on February 17, 2026, 08:24:56 AMThe problem with the law is that it considers financial crime far more serious than animal cruelty. This could be because the law itself is old and punishments probably are too despite being reviewed. There were harsh punishments for theft right up to hanging back in the days when animal cruelty was routine.
Until quite recently,  perhaps up until 3 or 4  years ago,  in law, pets were only considered as 'property'  or  'chattels.'  Much like a mobile phone or bit of furniture!

There has finally been a change,  and cats and dogs are now considered 'Sentient beings'  who are capable of feeling pain and fear.

Whether this will eventually change sentencing for cruelty,  only time will tell.

Yes,  and when you think about it,  its mostly the well-to-do aristocracy and posh-knobs  who arrange the  fox hunting, and they have been flouting the law about so-called 'trail hunting' ever since it came in.  But the posh-knobs seem to get away with it.

I also wouldn't mind betting if this country had Elephants, Lions, Tigers etc,  then they would be hunted and killed just the same as our other animals,  perhaps more so,  because they wouldn't have the expense of travelling abroad to kill.

I will never, ever understand the mind set of someone who kills purely for fun and prestige.

I am sure that I know why this has been permitted - for one specific group of people:
The powers-that-be are fully aware that the number of such people is increasing daily and I believe that they are becoming frightened; too frightened to even apply the law to them.

I sincerely hope that Reform UK will be able to turn things around and regain our civilised country.

I think that children should be taught in school that cruelty to animals is unacceptable .
I have always loved animals and cruelty make me feel sick .
My parents were not great animal people ( mum was terrified of cats ) but they abhorred cruelty  to any living creature .
It is a mystery to me why people have such lack of empathy towards other sentient beings .

Some people adults/children will pick on the weakest thing to bully.. usually  a defenceless animal.. Because bullies seldom pick on anything that might fight back..
Bullies are usually scared of being hurt themselves.. but have pleasure in hurting others..
I hate them..
