Have you any idea which is the most stolen car colour?   I've just been reading about this this morning.

I suppose its obvious when you think about it -  it's BLACK,  most likely because it is less obvious driving away in the dark with one.
The second most nicked colour is Grey.

Apparently there were 5,434 black cars nicked last year,  which works out more than 14 per day!

The most favoured make to pinch is first - the Mercedes,  and second - BMW or Ford.    Hence the highter insurance for these makes.

Have you ever had a car nicked,  or attempted to be?
Let's hope little,  old,  white Fiats stay unpopular!

I had a car stolen years ago, a white Fiesta but it had a 1600 engine and sporty.  Worst part is I came out of the pub, saw this Fiesta speed by and said to my friend that looks and sounds like my car !  It was.   I phoned the police to report it, I even told them it was headed towards the  Tunnel, but the car was never recovered.  I loved that little car too.

I had a knackered Escort which I was going to scrap and replace on my drive. I was feeding one of my children - youngest daughter I think in the early hours when I heard it start up and drive off - blowing exhaust made it unmistakeable.

I did nothing till the morning when I phoned plod. Either they told me then or called later. Can't remember if that was phone or in person - obviously wouldn't have been in person these days of course. It had been found dumped and they asked what it was worth. I said nothing as I was going to scrap it. IIRC the copper seemed surprised.

Anyway when I got to it it was undriveable - struts had gone right up through the bonnet. So that was a tenner lost - the scrappy in those days would pay that if you drove a scrapper in otherwise they'd collect it free. Biggest annoyance was they'd nicked my toolkit out of the boot. I always carried a toolkit ready for the inevitable breakdown that all the junkers I used at the time were prone to.
