GrannyMac losing weight and going shopping for new clothes has prompted me to put up this thread..

I do go to Primark sometimes with my granddaughter Hattie..
From what I have seen it is fine.. Ok, the finish isn't always top notch but for regular day to day wear it is fine..  You get what you pay for..
The shops in my town are too expensive and the fashion is crap.. The clothes seem to make one feel older than what they are..

We have lost our M&S... Very few customers used the clothes store..  The fashion was old fashioned.... I only went in for the coffee and food hall..

I think M&S has had its day..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

The thing that always amused me about M&S were the in store posters of models who were usually in their 20s or 30s and the customers in the shop all seemed to be 50+.

Primark stuff doesn't last all that well but it is  cheap

M&S has certainly changed these last few years and now targets younger women.  I was in Cheshire Oaks the other day looking for some new jeans, the ones I used to buy are no longer available, the bras are mostly Camel Laird built, but the knickers are ok    It must be my age because the food hall is my favourite go to department for browsing.

Primark is cheap crap, ok for throw away after one summer T shirts.  I've never found anything worth buying in there so I don't go in.

I do think M&S clothing has changed completely to how it used to be.

It is mostly made in Bangledesh now and the quality is nothing like it was, and the sizing is ridiculous.
Never believe the label.  Always measure it for yourself.
I took a jumper up to the tills recently,  to show them  their awful labelling.  The jumper said a 14-16  but it was barely bigger than a child's size,  more like an 8.    The lady did agree with me and said they get a lot like that.
So why don't they do something about it then?

Also the woollens are thin and see-through.  Even the so-called 'winter'  jumpers are thin as tissue paper.  Yet they still charge top prices.

The only things I still but from Marks are undies.  I like the fit of their bras and drawers.
I also like M&S food.

Last winter I bought a couple of pairs of nice warm, fleece-lined joggers for just a fiver each in Primark and have had no problems with them at all.  They wash well, and are still warm and comfortable.

I buy much of my stuff from Next..
They do most brands... deliver to the door and pick up any returns...
It is so sad that internet shopping is replacing the high street stores but I have little choice..
That is the way it is going...
I spend a lot of money on joggers... Might look at Primark..
I wear mainly cropped pants (flared).. or skirts ( not M&S) though.. And never those that look like flowery curtains..  Plain for me..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

We don't have either up here but both in Perth. I don't buy clothes from either, I shop in Bonmarche, George and Matalan when I'm down at my place. Otherwise I get stuff from Shein online

Yes, Bon Marche is another one I used to like.  Clothes fitted properly from there, and were what the label said they were.
All the Bonmarche's round here closed ages ago,  but they do online only now.

Most of my current wardrobe has been shipped in via Temu.

The best about Temu is it takes so long to arrive you've forgotten what you ordered, so a nice surprise

I've been to Bon Marche today, bought some linen trousers for summer, hope we get some.  I bought a couple of sweaters and a swimsuit from George online last week.  M&S? The quality is rarely better than supermarket stuff.  I have a couple of hoodies from Primark, they're ok.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖
