Edinburgh has cancelled the Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh due to bad weather.

This Evening and Tonight:
New Year's Eve will mark a change to colder conditions. Dry for many areas with some clear spells developing, but a few showers lingering and breezy at times. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Wind gust shows at 40 mph, is that so bad ? Windy with a chance of Jihad possibly ?

The UK authorities are the best in the world for not coping with seasonal weather & making a crisis out of it.

Aye.  It's only a couple of years since the big freeze (which lasted about a week).  There was semone discussion about how we should have a paper set of snow tyres, like they do in Iceland.  Then it thawed and that was the end of that.🤣🤣🤣

Irrespective of whether  we have snow or no snow in winter, here in Germany we have to change the tyres in November.
When we still had lots of snow in winter winter tyres were a blessing, but lately we don't have any snow or only snow for one or two days.

Well, I never knew that, ansu.

Mups

Newcastle has cancelled their celebrations, too.
Not sure if its Blackpool or Liverpool has followed suit.

It's gone from a yellow warning to an amber one last I heard,  so I don't blame them really.
They can't risk members of the public getting hurt and the insurance claims that would go with it.

Hundreds of people still gathered on Princes Street and had their own firework display, albeit a small one    The GB News presenter's hair wasn't even blowing !
