A bed that is too soft buggers my back so firmer is my preference. At least if I'm staying in it all night - if not I'd take my chances

Medium - firm  for me, too.

I also find the pillows almost as important as the mattress too 
I like something I can batter about and make into the shape I want, else my neck aches.

I've got feather pillows, I've wanted to try a memory foam but think it would make my head hot !!!!
