She's already Lady Nugee, and has been since 1991. So entitled by her marriage to the now 'Lord' Christopher Nugee, an ex appeal court beak.

This is only to be expected.  Labour party members, or supporters, being given knighthoods (or more).
If this goes one, every Labour supporter will expect to enter the House of Lords one fine day.  🤣🤣🤣

A lot of these labour party people are against honours and titles, until they get one.

I think its a way of getting rid of her. Some allege she has the dirt on Starmer and as such becomes an instant chargee for the upper house. Which amongst it's many other uses is flush with superfluous has-beens, who are dumped there as a pay-off @ £352 a day attendance allowance (sign in and the go home); plus expenses that make MP's look nursery school attendees in comparison. So the tax payer funds failure right to the end, to suit political schematics, whilst in parralel denying Pensioners £200 a year heating allowances. So grovel or blackmail, then hoover up the benefits for life.

I agree.  The House of Lords is no more than a private club for those who have money; a reward for those who have taken full advantage of our political system.
Why do we 'need' eight times the number of the American Senate in our upper house?  Just another corrupt system in this once-proud country, and at the end of the day think about who pays for it.
For that reason, along with the chance of restoring our country to democracy, I'd vote to become the 51st US state.

Has anyone in either chamber had their opinions (and hence vote) changed during a debate?  I suspect not, in which case one has to wonder what value either house actually has🤷🏻♂️

None at all, it appears.
I believe that today, a career in politics is no more than money for an easy and non-productive life.
One of two futures awaits.
Either Reform will form a government, or the country will continue on its journey to third-world status.
