I'm not 100% sure but think Arla foods make Lurpak butter.   I do know they produce Cravenfield Milk which I buy.   There's now a hoohaa going on with Arla foods because they're teaming up with major British retailers to trial a new feed additive that could significantly reduce methane emissions from dairy cows.  So to stop cows farting they're giving them Bovaer in the feed.  " The additive is made of silicon dioxide, propylene glycol and organic compound 3-nitrooxypropanol (known as 3-NOP)."

" Although it has been claimed the additive has no side effects on cows, a report by the Food Standards Agency last year found that 3-NOP "should be considered corrosive to the eyes, a skin irritant and potentially harmful by inhalation" to humans handling it "

I don't drink much milk, but my grandson does !  Organic milk seems to be the way forward

I looked up Lurpac and the chemicals. The only thing I can be sure of is the Arla do make Lurpac or at least own the brand. The rest are a bunch of studies where I suspect the outcomes depend on who commissioned the study.

For my part I'm sure that feeding cows a mixture of sand substitute antifreeze and the other chemical is all fine and dandy. Some scienist who was doubtless paid by those about to profit from the stuff says it's all perfectly safe so what could possibly go wrong? Probably good for the health just like Capstan Full Strength were back in the day.

Time will tell.

Remember when they said Astra Seneca was safe,  and Vapes were safe, and the blood transfusions were safe that gave tens of thousands of people Hepititus and HIV  . .

I agree with Alex.  Organic should be safest.

Having said that,  there is a plant-based Lurpak which they say is safe:

Does Lurpak have additives?

LurpakĀ® Plant Based is made from natural ingredients.
Free from palm oil, preservatives, colourings, and other additives.

I wonder what will happen to the cows bodies if they cannot release gas any more?
Surely that can't be good for them?

I can imagine at some point, seeing cows all bloated and taking off into the sky like hot air balloons.

Poor animals, they shouldn't be messing with them - or US  !

Yes.  I agree.

The  high & mighty probably make far more harmful emissions with the fancy cars and private jets, than a cows  would anyway,  but how much are they forfeiting to save the world!
