But aren't you a civvy now, Vlad?

However, I have an even simpler idea which works for me -  I just pop my rubber washing up gloves on.  Perfect grip every time.
Another tip.  Run the metal top under hot water, it usually will expand enough to loosen it.

Vlad, I'm with Scrumpy!  😂😂
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Indeed, but I like me. I am also a big fan of sweeping generalisations 😄

A hairdresser who's not listening.. When you tell them what you want..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Yes I agree about hairdressers, I only let one in Perth cut my hair. First time I met her in the Salon I asked her if she knew the difference between "the ends trimmed and several inches" She assured me she did and I nervously let her take an inch off my hair ends, and she did just that, so now I only let Donna work on my hair. I had a real row with the one before her, I asked her to tidy up the ends and she took almost 5inches off, I nearly had a fit, "well it needed it" was her excuse, ggggggrrrrrrrr, She should have said then asked if I wanted more off. I never went back to a hairdresser for well over a year. I had Donna recommended to me and it worked out great.

I had my hair chopped the other day.. It looks fine.. Easy to manage.. Straight out of bed.. Ruffle it up a bit.. Ready to go..

Unlike me, I just shine my head with a damp rag.

There are many options available to me. This is after a 6 inch trim.

Wireless boiler thermostat not working. Clock keeps stopping. New batteries - same. Tried some PTFE spray - better but still stops randomly. Discontinued only used spares available. Decide to take back off clock unit to see if it any muck cany be air blasted out....

Seems like it isn't meant to come to bits. Just expolded when the back came off and I have no clue what fits where or even if it would work if I could put it back together.

There are modern replacements but to fit the receiver the boiler casing has to come off  and that is supposed to only be done by registered gas fitters plus it seems there could be compatibility problems too.

Ordered a used one off eBay. It looks pretty smoke stained so may just swap over the clock units.

£135 ouch but cheaper that getting somebody in to fit a new one (they cost about £180 from Toolstation or Screwfix but may need something extra to make them work.

Discontinuing spare parts is a pain.

Mups

That does seem such a lot of money, Klondike.    It's so frustrating when things we have become discontinued.

Good luck with the new one,  but please be very careful tinkering with gas, ey.

I love a puzzle.. especially large pieces.. It's not Disney, but I'll have a go..

I think the round clock thing goes in the round hole on the left..
The round bits go on the the sticky up bits on that thing on the right..
The red bit is part of another puzzle.. It doesn't go anywhere..
The clock is slow.. needs winding up..
Ahhhh!.. That's what the red thing is for.. It's a wind up... !!!!

Funny enough about 19 years ago my boiler clock blew up. I have no idea why. I bought a separate time switch from B&Q and wired it in externally and it's still working touch wood.

The reason they are expensive is because they are rare. The alternative without opening the boiler up myself which could be dodgy but mostly because the newer receivers may be difficult to fit to my older boiler. Buying that bypasses any need to open up the boiler as I can either pair the new transmitter with the existing receiver or swap over the clock module.

I could leave it as is as it is stuck on right now but all I need do is turn the temperature down at night and up again in the morning.

The only wind up is your post. I maybe could fiddle with it for ages and get it together but I've no guarantee that it would work if I did - I was trying to open it up because it wasn't working.
