Even non football lovers will know this man, who was a bit of a Casanova during his time as England Manager !   He died today aged 76 from pancreatic cancer.  RIP Sven, a true gentleman of the game.

Ah.  Sad.  Knew he was sick, and why there be been a fair few articles about him over the last few days.  Wasn't aware it was quite so imminent.

RIP.

No,  me neither.
The news has been saying he still had 12 months to live,  so this was sudden.   Poor man.

I remember him and the scandals. RIP

I have the girl involved on the tip of my tongue too.

Do you mean Nancy Dell'Olia,  Klondike?

klondike

That wasn't the name. I'll see if google has it.

Yes. Ulrika Jonsson was the one I remembered but there were two more Faria Alam and Nancy Dell'Olio the dirty old dog.

Remembered for his achievements in the footballing world.  He was a boyhood Liverpool fan, as was his Dad, but Sven never got to manage the club - until March this year when he led out the team for a charity match against Ajax. You could see it meant a lot to him as there were tears in his eyes.

"To sit on the bench for Liverpool, that's been my dream my whole life. Now it happened, and it was a beautiful day in all meanings," he said after the 4-2 win.

"It was full of emotions, tears coming. It's been my dream club all my life – even when I had England, I also supported Liverpool, but I couldn't say it at that time.

"It's a good finish, to finish with Liverpool, it can't be much better than that."

Sad

Scrumpy

Those that spoke of him said he was a gentleman..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..
