Scrumpy

I popped in to our big M&S yesterday.. Today it closes down..

Many of the rails were bare.. 50% Off.. All the groceries in their food store were half of marked price.. The shelves were empty..
It was so sad to see .. So many memories..

And then I saw him..
The young chap that has been working there for many years.. His face lit up, as did mine.. We chatted.. He told me that he was going to an M&S in another town.. He had worked in the store for 24 years..
I asked how he would get to his new post.. He was happy to tell me that he would catch an early morning bus..
He doesn't walk too well and has a speech defect that distorts his words...
Yet he was so happy to have a new job with the same firm..

He put to shame the lazy bastards who sit on their bums and claim benefits..
Good luck to him..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Nice post, Scrumpy.   Glad your friend has still got a job.

Isn't it sad about M & S though.   I can imagine how sad you felt with the prices down and so many empty shelves everywhere.

I don't think their clothes are as good quality as they used to be,  and the sizing is nothing like the label says it is,   but I like their food. Always looks nice and fresh, and a good selection too.

We've got 2 M & S  within about 4 miles from me,  but one is a food hall and cafe only.

They were always a good firm to work for, according to my Aunty Doll who worked in M & S for many many years.

20% discount makes it worth working at M&S!!

As you may know, my daughter works in one store, and we use the discount as her rent🤭🤣
