Quote from: ansu on July 08, 2024, 04:42:25 PMAs to Germany - in my opinion the difference between German papers and yours is that ours print everything, irrespective of the fact that it's positive or negative. On the other side no other European country has taken more migrants than Germany (one of the reasons is our legislation) and many migrants suffer from psychological damage. Not that you think that I am approving their behaviour, above all the stabbing is a no-go but we really don't know what they have experienced in the past. Moreover, there's an enormous difference in mentality - often they come from countries were girls and women are considered as inferior and working slaves and probably they can't understand that Western girls and women are equal and independent.
As to France - for the French it seems sort of a shock to be, for us (Germans) a relief, for Europe, we have to wait and see.
As to the UK - I know you won't agree - Starmer seems to be a reliable and reasonable person - don't you think you need such a person after the turbulent last years - Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak - did I forget someone?
Two points.

Firstly, Starmer may seem to you to be a reasonable and reliable person, but that is yet to be proven.  If you have heard (or read about) his jumping from one promise to another, quite opposite, promise I'm sure you'd think again about that.  Nevertheless, it seems that a large majority of our voters have decided that he is God's gift to the UK!  We shall see!

It is now widely accepted that Starmer is likely to, rather than reduce Third World immigration into our country, heavily increase such immigration legal and illegal, despite the heavy expense and damage that is presently being done to the country.  When numbers increase to such levels as are expected, I can foresee Labour quickly becoming far less attractive to most people here, and likely to the extent that they will be out of office very quickly.  I certainly hope so.

Starmer had no large majority of voters. At around ⅓ of the votes cast ⅔ voted for a different party. If you look at the entire electorate only 20% voted for him. In this election he actually got 3 million fewer votes than Corbyn achieved when the Conservatives won their 80 seat majority.

Don't run away with the idea that Starmer is super popular with the electorate. He most certainly isn't. It's just that the Tories were even more unpopular and we have a first past the post voting system.

I predict that the money men will try to shore up Starmer & the Labour Government by such tricks as manipulating the value of the £ to make it look as though the UK is doing better than it really is.

Just like they deliberately crashed the £ when the Brexit vote didn't suit them.

Most of the media will support Starmer & Labour by not starting a storm about everything they intend to do so I hope the bit of the media that's Tory based will do that job.

If they run to form it won't matter what the media say the unfolding mess will be obvious to all.

Just a thought.....while Starmer is living it up in the US, does it mean Rayner is in charge of the country  ?
