Our prisons are full..  Shoplifting is rife.. Theft is easy pickings.. Weapons are becoming an accessory.. Our mouths are tightly closed for fear of 'Saying'  the wrong words.. Doctor/Dentist/Housing are not available/ affordable for many.
We have politicians who feather their own nest.. and that of their 'Friends'..
Extra pensions are for the few..
Strikes.. strikes.. strikes..  The government will topple..
Oh to go back to the 50s.. 60s.. 70s...  When we knew our place.. and we stayed there.. !!  and the local Bobby knew most by name..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Alex

They certainly were better times and we can't ALL be wearing rose tinteds

I'm better off myself but millions certainly aren't and I don't think the young have the opportunities open to my generation. That is mostly down to ridiculous property prices and low unskilled / semi skilled wages IMO. Now I wonder what could have caused those two things

It has got to the point where working doesn't make many any better off than benefits - high housing costs and low wages.

We have far too many teenagers who have never heard the word 'no'.  We have feral youths dressed in black and with black masks riding round attacking people.

I remember one of my daughters arguing with me when I said no to something that she wanted to do.  I think it might have been something a bit dangerous because when I said a final, definite 'no' a look of relief flashed on her face for a moment.

All of this is, in my opinion, due to soft government and wokery.

Our prisons are full because they are an easy life for the inmates, with many of the guards (if they are actually at work) are afraid of some of the prisoners.  It never used to be like that.

Theft and carrying weapons is commonplace now because the police are either new or soft, and probably concerned of the consequences if anyone complains about them.

Parts of our language (used over centuries) are now prohibited for fear of offending someone.

I think that basically, most if not all of this is down to our politicians who, for at least the last decade or two have been nothing more than incompetent.

I agree.  I look back at my childhood (born in 1952) and, in fact probably as late as the 1990s with fond memories.
No, I think that the real rot set in here from the turn of the millennium.

Good old Rishi you can't keep a good fakir down, or is that spelt faker?

I can think of an alternative spelling to both of those. The useless fakir smiles too much. Mind you with all his cash I'd maybe smile too.

It would be even worse, though, if most people react by voting for Labour.

I really can't be sure now, but the news seems to be that Labour might not get in next time, due to the things recently reported as being proposed by Sir Kneeler.
If the Tories do get in again next year, I think the best they can do is elect a new, more convincing leader.

Maggie would certainly have carried it but, of course, they stabbed her in the back, didn't they?   She's dead now, of course.

If only more people had even heard about Reform!

If they lose then the smiley fakir is history. If by some miracle they win they won't replace him.

One of my concerns is what are the Labour Party rules now for their leader? Will boring Starmer win the election only to be winkled out and a Marxist slipped in as leader by the membership?

The film ' Scum' showed how borstals were in the 60's and 70's. Brutal and a real deterrent.

Not the holiday camp today.

It doesn't matter so long as you're careful to ensure the pronunciation is correct, or it could get tricky.
Make every day count, each day is precious.
