As it goes today very few children go to the park and many have to have accompaniment, that is an adult to keep an eye on them ,it shows how bad things have got , due to philaphiles, and sick people,

in the past there were park keepers , who watched and were their if a child needed help,  today I'm not sure if councils employ park keepers any more

so do children have that much freedom as we had back in our past,
and so i can understand why children don't seem to play our any more simply to play safe,

Q; is that why so many children today are either shut in doors, or play in their friends  home and garden, (is it healthy for children not to have little  or no physical exercise,) where as in the past they did, playing in the streets and parks ,

Q; do you have any thoughts on parks, safety, and freedom,

Close all, convert them into shuttle box housing estates for 'Asylum Seekers', with HMG paying the rates. Councils will love it, consistent need and gilt edged payment, no upkeep costs etc. Crime will subside as hopefully the ungodly will only assault each other in close proximity, 'box to box', for not being in the same 'tribe'.

'Children' only need their bedrooms to use their 'Smartphones' for asinine purposes today anyway - no help needed here, their brilliant at it! :worried:

But but but, my Swanies and my games in the park with Dageus and his ball. :nooo:  :quack:

We live in quite a 'nice' area but last night two boys were beaten up because they live here.  Another boy attacked them because he was from another town (easily connected by a local train).  The boys are in hospital but the attacker is said to have been caught because he filmed the attack and put it on the internet.

We were threatened a few weeks ago by one young man, all in black who rode his bike along the pavement heading for me.  It was early evening and I suppose he thought he was being clever.  Paul is not easily intimidated and shouted very, very loudly and in the end the young man decided to ride off.

As youngsters we roamed all over the moors and hills built dens, went fishing in a local river or the canal played football on the Rec, cycled for miles nobody ever bothered us, if adults walked passed us on the bank of the river some would ask if we were ok and just told us to be careful and don't fall in

We were fireproof back then

There have always been dirty old men hanging around children's playgrounds in parks. We called our local paedo "Dirty Ernie". What we didn't know at the time was there was some posh name for them. We did know to keep away though.

This is true. My brother and I met a man called Bernard when we were kids. An obvious inadequate, he enjoyed the company of kids but we knew enough to be cautious and that was the late 50s..Hasten to add that we never had a problem with him though he did wear a mac!

Pass on that one , perhaps the wider use of mind altering drugs

The increase in cars and other traffic had a huge impact on children's freedom, as has the wider publicity about stranger danger (which is possibly no worse than in our day).

My youngest granddaughter lives in a quiet culdesac, there are other children there too and they play out in the summer.  They're perhaps quite fortunate.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

I think it gets treated more seriously now and there is more chance of being caught.

More prevelant? Don't know but the dirty vicar was a common phrase back then. These ideas don't appear out of fresh air.
