Nine Egyptian people smugglers have been charged with the capsizing of the fishing boat that was carrying up to 750 illegal immigrants.

They must have been packed in like sardines.

From the photo they were, if anyone of them had any sense they wouldn't have got on the boat, they must have known it was way over crowded.

Most of them were in the hold of the fishing boat, which is why I said they must have been packed like sardines.

What I can't understand is why many of them were from Egypt & Pakistan,  :wtf: do that lot need to seek asylum in Europe?  :yell:

Economic migrants. Most are. None deserve to die but I can't shed any tears for them any more than I could for a loser at Russian Roulette. They must surely know that they are putting their lives and those of their children at risk. Perhaps the children do deserve a tear.

I agree, Klondike but surely the Greeks could have done more
to save.

I didn't follow the story but recall something about the boat turning down offers of help from the Greek coastguard because they wanted to get to Italy. I may have misunderstood.

No, I read much the same. They refused help because they were scared they would be returned to where they just left from........Idiots. :downvote:

You're correct, I heard / read the same thing.

The Greeks should have left them to it, what the illegal immigrant apologist clowns don't realise is that it's because they know they'll be saved is probably what makes them decide the risk crossing in the first place.

We keep hearing how dangerous crossing the channel is. I suspect a lot more have been killed here by dog attacks than have crossing the channel in the last 5 years. They face more danger walking the streets here than they did in the dinghies.

No they don't.  However, like all the other dinghy boys, they come here because of all that is on offer to them.

They may be illegal, but they're not stupid.

Another boat has sunk off the coast of Spain, the BBC and Reuters reported that a total of 227 migrants were rescued off Spain's Canary Islands over the last couple of days.

Well the rescuers dramatically reduce the risk to one which the illegal immigrants regard as an acceptable level.

If there were no rescuers you'd see these illegal crossings virtually stop.

Yes, I agree.

Let the French rescue the cross-channel migrants.  After all, they already accompany them as far as the edge of our waters to ensure that they get there safely.

If no Border Farce or RNLI vessels arrive to collect them, what will they do?
