I did indeed mean the pension rise.

I don't want the 10% inflation in August, which is more likely than not, & a sudden handy drop to 3% in September.

It won't drop to 3%. A chunk of my 10% just vanishes as extra tax on my other pensions which as inflation was low and looked to be staying that way at the time I decided against index linking. One I couldn't anyway as it was a frozen pension with the benefits set years before.

I also pay 20% of it back in tax.

There are rumours that energy prices are being removed from the CPI calculation which will artificially deflate the true rate of inflation.

Energy prices are more likely to be dropping than rising over the next year. Keeping energy in will decrease the inflation figures which are year on year so the big rise is already in there
