I saw Hattie yesterday.. One side of her face is slightly swollen.. It is painful to yawn..
While we were having coffee the dental surgery phoned saying they had a cancellation.
She has her op tomorrow (Thursday) late afternoon..
So pleased for her..
But this was after much checking in the area.. telephone calls.. prices..
It shouldn't be like this.. I feel sad for those not in a position to source/obtain/ afford treatment.

S' alright Scrumpy, we/they're used to it..

in the early eighties the steward of our club was upset by the news that his wife required a ladies op.she was so debilitated she couldnt work, and it was she who did all the catering for weddings ect, which was a big earner for them, but they were informed there was a two year waiting list, so  she would be off work for two years at least... have you considered going private i suggested, he was a bit shocked, and said i didnt think you would agree with that road... i smiled and pointed out the rules change when its family... so the enquired and it cost Them £30... and she was in within a week....
this was the catholic club Granny...

One of the few I've never been in. I don't think my OH ever worked there either.  Its strange, as South Yorkshire clubs were a good part of his bread and butter.  His agent for many years was originally a singer from Askern.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

And ditto for you bonny lass.   I wasn't suggesting you were wealthy, I was just saying that most of us know that wealth brings small privileges and that the majority are used to it..I'd certainly not deny Hattie her pain relief on some socialist principle. I once lived and worked bent double for over a year because I couldn't get an appointment for access to a scanner. I finally paid £600 to get my spine scanned privately.. in a car park. Now there's posh! Instant result, operation within a month so I meant nothing by the remark chuck..

was his Agent Jean allen?.....the Catholic Club didnt book turns they had an organist and drummer on sat/sun for dancing occasionally a singer would get up [ususlly irish...lol] friday nights were parish dances, each parish selling tickets for their do...lol... the catholic club was a very wealthy club, and did a xmas dinner for its senior members upstairs.... on one occassion i was playing snooker and called into the gents where i met a very short irish friend i was surprised to see him as i hadnt noticed his attendance then i realised it was the night of the xmas dinner soi asked him "now then Frankie are you upstairs at the xmas dinner" "christ no Doug" he replied " I'm stood here pissing wi you"... dont you just love them....lol
