I've put up a copy of the forum on the new server. I'll be using it as a devopment server in future so I can test stuff without breaking the real site and doing something later so I don't get confused about which I'm on but they look the same right now or at least should.

I'll be messing around on it to see if anything breaks.

Can you take a look and mooch around to see if you spot anything that doesn't work please

Nothing you add will ever appear on the live site

There's a little 'blue pin head' when I start to type a reply, is that intentional Klondy ?  I can't see anything else different  :upvote:

Can't say I've seen that. The forum software version hasn't changed it's the server software. I did take the opportunity to update two mods that are on that use functions the current forum doesn't support so they can't be updated here.

One is an SEO mod which won't mean anything to you and shouldn't change anything you see just what search engine see but I've not altered any of the parameters and haven't even checked if it offers anything new or is just a technical  update.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization

The other is the one that trys to  keep spammers from signing up. Maybe it thinks you're a bit shifty

What I'm wary of is anything just crashing or not working. Like all the smilies going AWOL when I junked the unused smilie mod here the other day.

I think you mean this....

It's some Windows thing that Bill tought you might like. It's probably possible to get rid of it but I don't know how and haven't bothered finding out. It appears on the current forum too,

Alex

yes except mine is blue and pin points upwards.    It's not a problem at all. just sayin.......

I think it has to be windows. Oddly I'm not seeing it now either here (where that screenshot was made) or over on Dev. Curiouser and curiouser. I'll ask Gemini.

Obviously the know all knew..

That purple/magenta teardrop marker with the pin is the Windows Text Cursor Indicator, an accessibility feature built into Windows designed to make the text caret easier to spot.

Why It Appeared and Disappeared

Application Compatibility: The indicator hooks into modern text fields (such as web browsers and modern Notepad) via the Windows text rendering APIs. This explains why it appeared in your forum's Quick Reply and Notepad, but did not show up in legacy console apps like cmd.exe or your 16-bit KEDIT program, which bypass modern OS text overlays.

Check out this
for a quick visual walkthrough of where to find and manage this setting.

Mups

Have you completed the change over now, Klondie?
