Water companies to increase prices

So now the water companies want to put our prices up again.

Andy Burnham has had something to say about this,  and although I don't usually get involved with Politics,  I must say I agree with him entirely over this, and hope he does something about it and is not just a big bag of wind like all the  others have always been.

He is quoted as saying:   

Mr Burnham hit out at the plans, saying "customers cannot be treated as a blank cheque", while campaign groups said most households were already pushed to "breaking point" by soaring bills.

The PM said: "I understand why people are angry – I am too. The truth is customers have been asked to pay more for years, yet serious pollution incidents are at record levels and the pipes are still leaking.
"None of which is the bill payer's fault, who should not be treated as a bottomless source of funding for other people's failures."

I think he is absolutely right. 
I had to drive to the other side of Bedford today,  so I avoided the main roads and went through the villages.
I had just crossed a little  stone bridge over a very 'low level'  river and about half a mile up the road, water was pouring out of a drain hole and running  down the road.   
On my return journey about hour & half later,  it was still the same.  No workmen,  nothing coned off, no road signs,  nothing.     It may still be like it now for all I know.

I wanted to,  but I couldn't Klondie.
   
It wasn't in a nice convenient street with the name and postcode next to it,  it was miles away from anywhere in a country lane.    I had no idea how to describe the area, or the road, or postcode to someone on a  switchboard miles away from the area.
I drove on just hoping someone more local would know the name of the lane and postcode.

That reply is what I expected. It's not easy to report leaks like that and that's why they often leak for a long time as water companies don't  have leak spotters out there looking. If one of their employee spots it while out and about I would hope that they would log it. 

You can report leaks on the Anglian water website and I've done that in the past and there was a prompt check and fix. I did have trouble reporting a hydrant with no obvious address. I tried twice and nothing happened so I gave up. It has now been fixed but was probably leaking for over a year.
