I thought you were going to post about a book, "The Vexed Vicar" sounds just like a book title.  :busted:

Not me .🙂

But Chris Wickland has written quite a lot of books .
I have not yet read any of them but he posts on YouTube as the Vexed Vicar .
I don't think he's mainline CoE else they would have silenced him by now .

Quote from: muddy on Yesterday at 12:12:54 PMHe will take over but ( as I have said on other occasions - as I get older I do repeat myself ) he will be the last King of England .
Barring some accident George will not be king the monarchy will have long gone by then.
A rather dismal picture, Muddy.
For what reasons or consequences do you think that the monarchy will cease after William?

Yes, everyone must be aware that Labour is successfully dragging our country into the swamp, but their term will end in 2029 at the latest, I am sure.  Following that, I hope that Reform will begin to restore much of what we had before Bliar.

So why should the monarchy cease?  If nothing else, it attracts much foreign interest in our country, including tourism.  Yes, Charlie-boy seems to want us to become islamic, but I'm sure that William will not continue that line!

Because the time of monarchies is past JBR.
Actually long past.
Fawning on one family who have simply won the lottery of birth is plainly ridiculous in this day and age.
The age of unearned and undeserved deference is gone.

Well, I suppose that remains to be seen.
Of course, I don't suppose I shall still be around by the time William passes on the crown...
or gives it up for good, I suppose.

None of us here can be sure we'll even see William get the crown even though Charles does have a cancer. You can be sure if any of them has anything go wrong they won't have a month's wait for a GP appointment then turn up their toes while still on a waiting list.

Men don't get smarter as we age.  We just run out of stupid stuff to do.

I'm not trying to be nasty to Charlie-boy; after all, he can't help who he is.
However, I'd be happy to be able to have seen two coronations during my lifetime.  After all, they don't often happen a couple of times every year, do they?

I think that Queenie could have abdicated a few years back and given him a pop at the top job while he was still fairly active .
But there you are .

Not how it works though. I think she believed fervently that it is a job for life.

She never really lived in the real world though or rather she was living in a  bubble which protected her from the real world.
