A very interesting discussion. However, maybe a bit one-sided as we say. We don't have any Royals, however, our "fomer" royals (the Hohenzollern) have enormous land and property, too, and managing this keeps them quite busy.
Royals are a luxury and rather expensive and I always had the impression that you are very proud of them and enjoy all that pomp and parades and don't want to miss it.

We don't actually need royals to have pomp and parades .

William is well known to be work-shy; if he wasn't a royal, he'd be pretending
 to be ill and on benefits. 

As for Harry's children, they are no more "brats" than Williams.

He held down a job as a search and rescue helicopter pilot for some years.

The real cost is much more  as security never figures into these calculations .
In fact there loads more doesn't we don't know about the cagey royal finances except  that they get richer all the time .

Charles didn't pay one penny of Inheritance tax on the millions he inherited from Queenie .
Not will William when his time comes .

There is something obscene about using the taxpayers money to support a mediocre uber privileged family  of multimillionaires ..

Harry is asking for police protection when he and her pop over for a short stay..
 Protection has been refused.. 
He really thought they would have all the (fuss) made for them.. Police surrounding their motor and all that 'Look at me' stuff.. Funded by the taxpayer..

The fact is there is any amount of Harry lookalikes walking about .
Just about any 40 year old ginger haired man with a beard looks like Harry .
He will fit in perfectly .
As for Megan she really should think about visiting her own father the man who brought her up and doted on her.

He doesn't want a motorcade, etc. Does anyone here really think that any of 
the other Royal kids move a muscle without proper protection? They are 
surrounded by them wherever they go. Are we so mean-spirited that we
don't care a toss about Harry's? Because he married a coloured American and
 wrote a truthful book?
My goodness, the Harry and Meghan haters, it seems, are also Prince
Archie and Princess Lillabet haters.

Where do you get these strange ideas ?
Only the 'working royals'  get security the rest don't.
Calling people mean spirited because they don't want to see unnecessary taxpayers money spent on a couple of millionaire grifters and their offspring is not on.
Personally I couldn't give a monkeys about Harry his wife or his kids .
 I don't hate them nor do I wish them ill .
But I have absolutely no interest in them whatsoever .
They are totally irrelevant to my like
However if people chose to fawn sycophantically  over a pair of super privileged kids of someone they don't know one can only , say each to his own .


Everyone's young children are at risk today in the U.K. .
 Most however don't have a choice of royal residences  to chose from that absolutely bristle with security and all Buck Shee

BTW the phrase ' coloured girl ' is distinctly non PC these days .
She's not a girl she is a woman nearer middle age than girlhood .
She is a woman of mixed race - like there aren't any in the U.K. .
There are mixed race women everywhere .
Her mixed heritage has gifted her with great beauty as is so often the case .

Megan herself is clearly not too keen on black people seeing as she married two white millionaires .
Apart from her mother how many of her black  family were present at the wedding ?

Yet she was happy enough to invite people she didn't even know !


No one apart from yourself is concerned about her colour it's her obnoxious  attitude  that people don't like .
And the majority of British people if they think of her at all  don't like her probably after seeing that  disgraceful Oprah interview .
I am not a royalist at all but even I didn't like to see her making a parody of curtsying to the Queen .I have met the Queen no one has to curtsy it's not required except within the royal family itself .

However mocking your husbands octogenarian grandmother on world TV is not a good look .

There is something you have forgotten to mention in your reply..

It was THEIR choice to leave the country and NOT be working royals anymore..
But they can't seem to get their heads around the fact that because they are not representing us why the hell should WE pay for them.. 
Yet, they always seem to remember how it is royals and titles  that America love.. and use them to their
 advantage...

I am certainly not a Meghan .. Harry  hater.. I care little about them..  that being the reason I do not wish my taxes to be contributed toward protecting them..

My point is that Harry's children are the King's grandchildren and should 
be given the same protection as his other grandchildren. None of which 
are 'working royals'. 

As to his wife, I think she should be cut some slack, but from the beginning, 
the press has compared her unfavourably to Kate. It was all good for headlines,
but very unfair. 

I am not a Royal worshipper but I abhore when one set of children are protected 
and the others referred to as 'brats'.

But I realise I am in brick wall territory so will leave it.

His children should get the same protection as any other child in the U.K. .
They are children they are not special other than to their parents .
If he wants extra protection he can easily pay for a private security firm .
That is what people do .
The British police are not for hire they are paid by the taxpayers they are not for every Tom Dick or even Harry .
He is not a taxpayer .
His children are not more at risk here than any other child in the country .
Less so in fact as if he comes he can stay in very secure royal residences .
They can sew trackers into their clothles if they are so worried that is the usual procedure .
And while the children of William are offered protection it is because their parents live in the U.K. and are 'working royals ' William does at least pay some taxes .
As to the treatment of Meghan being ' unfair ' which part of being the wife of a royal prince a multimillionaire , a house and every privilege provided do you think is unfair ?
What exactly has Megan done to deserve 'fairness ?

The world is not fair and for a B rated actress she has done very well indeed .
She was lucky to get Harry ok he's a bit thick but nevertheless less he loves her and has shot her to world fame .
And a lifestyle that many can only dream about .
