Can't be bothered to check on who it was (other than a total twit - then what's new in this government?) but a day or two ago a minister said it was time pensioners paid their way
The nerve of it! I have paid my way since 1953! Income tax, NI, Heavy taxes on tobacco- gave up smoking in my early 30s, petrol , worked for 40, and for about 23 of those paid tax at a higher, and thanks to freezing of levels am doing so once again
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

We don't get any tax relief for being pensioners. I think some of these politicians live on another planet. We pay all the same taxes as anyone else!

On the other hand we get very poor value in return, in my humble opinion.

Can't find which minister, but I could find an article in the telegraph by one of their correspondents... Eir Nolsøe

Can't read the article due to its paywall.  Could someone remind me how to get around this barrier?

Ashy

Either read it on Yahoo or MSN or copy it quick and paste into a word processor.

Thanks Ashy.  I ended up using a remove paywall site to see it.  Anyway, the article led me to the fact that it's the Pensions Minister Torsten Bell who Mike was referring to.

Pay!  I do, now, after a free period.

Not this one, then?

Torsten Bell, that's a good old fashioned working class name. He was the brains behind the 2008 financial crisis.
