Making themselves popular, I know they have to have protection but, is this not a bit OTT? I'd be furious if that was my dog walking area.

Too many nutters out there I'm afraid.  Most of whom have long lenses🙄

Mups

Unfortunately, wherever the Royals go,  they are at risk of nutters,  whether it be someone trying to harm them,  or as Dex just said,  long range lenses spying on them and intruding on their privacy.   Cranky journalists would so love to get a piccy of Kate in her undies, or having a shower!
It's one of the problems of having the 'elite'  living nearby.

I can see both sides of all this situation, really.

I think they could well be concerned about long lenses mounted above barrels too....

GrannyMac

I think you're probably right k.  Plenty of the Park will still be open to the public and their dogs.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

The press will always have something about the royals to moan about.. Even the decent royals.
I agree that they need protection against the 'nutters' and intrusive press..
If, as GrannyMac says 'Plenty of the park will still be open to the public' what on earth are people moaning about. !!

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Scrumpy, people moan about anything.  I live near a big park, its lovely. Walled garden, library, kids play area, tennis courts, all sorts of activities, and a cafe.   Once a year there is a big music festival there for three nights, and much of the park is closed. But the play area, library, tennis courts, cafe and other bits are accessible. The area has a great vibe, and the park benefits financially.  People moan because for three days they don't have access to it all.

My sister in law was here when it was on recently. We wandered down and sat outside the fence and listened to the music on a lovely evening.  Free. Within days the park was cleared and back to normal.

I too have a park nearby.. many events go on there.. Carousels.. Christmas events.. stalls..
You bet someone will have a moan.. It is usually those that seldom go there..
I think they still hold a concert.. I hear music coming from there quite often..

GrannyMac ..Your park sounds wonderful.. Mine has a lake.. ner, ner., ner..

So does mine! With swans, ducks and geese. Used to be a boating lake years ago.

My local park also holds different events throught the summer.

They have a music night,  this year I think was Abba copy-cats - but they are not allowed to make a noise after a certain time in the evening.
They have an annual dog show,  an Artisan market, Classic car show,  Remembrance day, but the one that bugs me a bit is the annual Fireworks display,  its huge and gets many people attend every year.

The park is near me, and next morning I always have to check round my garden for dead fireworks.
Our cars are often covered in grey ash too!

But I guess,  all these things are only for a day or two,  its not the same as the Royals moving in!

Yeh!! but!!  No but!!! I have two other lakes nearby too..

Shall we call it a draw!!
We are lucky to have common land and parks.. Regardless of the size of them..

🤣🤣 We are indeed very lucky to have so much green space.  I'm not far from the edge of the Peak District, wonderful for walkers, with or without dogs.

Sheffield has been named as the greenest city in the UK due to the number of parks, trees etc.
