Did I hear right.. !!!!
On the news just now..
Pensioners aged over 75 with an income NOT OVER 35 thousand will receive winter fuel allowance..
Please correct me if I am wrong..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Raven

You did indeed hear right.

Rachel Reeves has announced changes to the winter fuel payment - here's the finer detail: Who's eligible this winter? Everyone over the state pension age in England and Wales with an income of, or below, £35,000 a year.
No mention of Scotland of course, hopefully it will be the same here.

GrannyMac

Anyone over state pension age with an income of less than £35k.  It's here:

It will probably cost more checking that income than just giving it to everyone and making it taxable. At least they haven't brought savings into the equation. Or have they - it's there for pension credit.

Do they think this makes it all alright? Will everybody have forgotten what a bunch of horse's posteriors they are? I don't. Anyway by the time the next election is due or is forced they'll have flushed the economy so far down the toilet that they'll once again be unelectable as has just about every Labour government with the puzzling exception of the war criminal Blair.

Whatever Labour do concerning the Winter Fuel allowance will count for nothing..
People will not forgive nor forget them  taking it away in the first couple of weeks after being voted in..
It is one of the first things people talk about when discussing the government...
Even those who do not need it usually mention it..
They will kick themselves for ever... And so they should..

I don't think Farage is as popular as he once was.. It doesn't seem to be a (solid) party..
It seems to be all over the place..
Having said that .. my vote will go to Reform..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

I think the good folks of Hamilton have forgotten. They voted for more Labour, lets hope they don't live to regret it. But I won't hold my breath.

GrannyMac

The vote was very split, the top three getting similar results.  Quite encouraging for Reform I thought.
