Yesterday I had an email supposedly from Marks & Spencer.  It looked quite authentic too.
It said I had won a posh hamper and to click to claim it.

Luckily I noticed the senders name and email, and checked it out.  It was nothing to do with M&S whatsoever.
I really loathe these scammers.

Anyway,  I phoned M&S head office and asked if they wanted me to send them the email to see, but they said No,  as they were already aware of it,  and others had reported it too.

I use this email checker if its any help to anyone else:

I also use this one for dodgy phone calls too.

I never answer a phone number I do not recognise..
I run a check on 'Who called me' (Or something like that).. You enter the number and they check it out.. Usually a scam.. I never call back on a number or answer an e-mail that is not familiar  ..
  Being ignorant helps...

I do, however, fall for a SALE sign..

Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

This scam looked so authentic.   Had all the M&S logo and colour schemes.
I've received the same scam twice now!

Absolute scum who do this.  Phone calls now purporting to be local, using the dialling code.  We don't answer any we don't recognise, then we block all the scammy ones.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Yes,  that's how I feel, too.
And I also agree with you how they can use local dialling codes, too.
I have heard they can  'buy'  these numbers,   but I have no idea how that works,  nor who sells them.
Whoever it is - they must be scum too.

Not sure exactly which phone app I have - might even be the default Samsung one but whatever it is it pops up with any info it has on the caller including "Suspected Spam".

I'd hate having to call people for a job these days as I reckon there must be a lot don't answer. Usually I don't but was out walking when the phone went the other day and as I'd made the effort to drag it out of an inner pocket I answered it. Very odd sounding voice and I was going to hang up but recognised the words Vodafone and installation and realised it was a call about my broadband move back to them - cheaper plus cashback - I'm at the end of the one I moved to because Vodafone wouldn't match their own new customer deal so I went to a cheaper one offering cashback. Probably do the same again when the new contract ends.
