It has occurred to me that I might benefit from obtaining a raft and sailing across to France.  I looked into this and found that the French tend not to accommodate new arrivals in hotels and provide everything free of charge.

My considered solution: go halfway across and come back again (minus any passport or ID), speak no English, and expect an immediate check-up by a doctor and a nice free stay in a four-star hotel.

Perhaps the RNLI/Border Force could liaise with a third party company to arrange dinghies to be towed around the coast and up the Thames, and drop their passengers off at Westminster Bridge, so that new arrivals can have a nice meal in the Parliament restaurant, have a chat with MP's before heading off to Westminster Hall for an initial processing and arranging a few first nights sleepover in Westminster Abbey?

It's important that our politicians get an opportunity to have a hands on experience with the fruits of their Labour.

I've just seen that the Home Office now, is spending  £15 million on satellites to track migrants attempting to cross the channel.

So how will a satellite stop them?  :hmm:

klondike

They should be buying some drones off the Ukrainians. They'd stop them.

They want to track them to make sure they have a safe travel..
Or send life boats out sooner to pick them up..
Much easier than waiting for them to sink..

My family was considered as an undesirable family in Hungary and after WW II we came to Germany as refugees with just what we had on our body - in a country where people were starving - and I can tell you life as a refugee is hard. So, I think the best way could be to do our utmost to avoid that people have to become refugees.
I can understand your fear that one day there will be more "migrants" than Britons - the same question was already asked in Germany some years ago - but maybe you forget that your ancestors also belonged to different races or how you call it - Celts, Saxons, Norsemen, Danes, Romans and last but not least French/Normans. Think of William the Conqueror.

The reason many resent the migrants is that we have absolutely no idea if they are fleeing something or simply coming here to get for nothing facilities and money that those that go through the correct procedures to come here don't get and certainly none of those that were born and worked here can get.

The sheer volume of legal migration is putting so much strain on our public services that all here can see that they are visibly collapsing under the strain. Illegal migrants get an even better deal. They get free accomodation, free food, free spending money and better medical and dental services than those whose taxes pay for those things can get themselves.

Ansu there's no comparison between your family seeking refuge in Germany and the hundreds of thousands of men seeking " REFUGE" here .  Your family obviously integrated, worked and were grateful for the life Germany gave them.  Not the same with these mainly muslim men coming here who hate our way of life and actually hate us.
