Looks interesting. I never knew silica gel could be dried out. I always assumed there was some sort of irreversible reaction.

I don't know how it works Klondy, but I had to move it before I could drive home as I couldn't see over the top  it's now sitting opposite the passenger seat, so I'll see if it works later today.

I always reverse into my driveway as its a darn site safer than reversing out on the nasty bend outside.
You can't see what's coming until its nearly on top of you.


By the way,  what age is considered an 'old' car nowadays?

It says it's a big bag of silica gel. That's the same stuff you sometimes get in little square bags in the packaging of new electronic kit. It absorbs moisture. What I didn't know but Google confirms is that you can heat it to dry it out again.

I think it should. The only questions for me are how often it needs drying out, how effective that is and how often can it be repeated. If I needed my car first thing daily then I'd get one too.

I believe that Peugeot 307s are renowned for misting up but I do think there may be some damp under the front passenger carpet but I haven't got round to checking yet.

When I pressed a piece of kitchen roll it absorbed a bit of coolant as it was pink & tasted of glycerine but the coolant level hardly drops so there can't be too much.

It's one of those 'round tuit' jobs.

I read somewhere that a bowl of Cat litter will do the same.
No idea if that works or not though.

I've never come across that problem.

As well as using a temporary fix I would suggest finding the actual cause.

A possibility is a damp issue in the car, where water has got under the carpets, at least on the driver's side, causing condensation which has then frozen.

Interesting thought, Diasi.    But how could water get under the carpets?   Do you mean in the footwells?

Mine.. She is a Peugeot 206 Delux..
She is around 22yrs old.. 
She has never let me down..
The lights come on automatically when needed.. The wipers also some on automatically when it rains..

I agree.. My road is clear and straight.. Very little traffic..
