If they don't want to marry (like me) then they need to make sure they have a Will in place. Doesn't need to be an expensive one with a lawyer they can get a do it yourself one for a few pounds, as long as it's witnessed then it's legal. I had this problem with my ex husband's kids, (they hated me) he died and they thought they'd step in and benefit. Got quite a shock when they heard there was a Will.

Exactly right Raven.
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

You didn't want to remarry, Raven?  Obviously, you had never met me.  😏

Once was more than enough thanks. Fred n I were great pals got on so well, then we got married, I've never seen anyone change so quickly, the years that followed were hell.
It's the reason I keep my house in Perth, it's my bolt hole if I need to move out of Dunc's place. I do return several times a year to see family and friends though, sometimes with Dunc but mostly on my own. My son looks after the place for me and he often stays there when he wants peace n quiet.

Even when there is no will the inheritance can be contested .
If you have lived togther for many years and have proof ie photos etc you can get something
.Having said that it is totally irresponsible to not have a will .
