The last time I watched live TV was when Boris said people are going to die. My wife hasn't watched live TV since March so we let the licence run out. If the government wants to tell me anything they can write to me, I don't need the BBC making it up.

2 1/2 minutes worth a watch. The tax was first imposed in 1916 and abolished in 1960.

Radio licences were introduced in 1923 under enabling powers made in 1904, and extended to tax TVs in 1946. What Richard Todd said in the film was actually wrong, as TVs were taxed. but the fee was relatively low compared to cheaper cinema tickets.

I dumped the TV set in 2003 - along with the licence.  Why should I pay the BBC extortionate amounts of money just to watch continual repeats.  Much prefer to watch DVDs and, yes, I know they are a form of repeat but they are, at least, my choice, and I have a greater variety from which to choose.  There are o nly three programmes which I miss - Only Connect, University Challenge, and Mastermind.
