Silver Tabby

First day of Autumn in the ancient calendar.

Old Scottish (highland)  superstition - To find a lover today - take a Ladybird and address her thus:-

"Lady, Lady lanners
Tak your cloak about your heid,
and fly away to Flanders.
Fly ower moor, and fly ower mead.
Fly ower living, and fly ower dead.
Fly ye to East, or fly ye to West,
Fly to one that loves me best"

I tried that yesterday.
It didn't work.

I wonder if "they" (how very modern man I've become😬) has verrucas on their bingo wings?  That'd truly help emulate a ladybird.

I just asked chatgpt to explain the prose......

The excerpt "Lady, Lady lanners..." is from a traditional Scottish song or poem. It metaphorically speaks to a lady, instructing her to wrap herself and fly away to Flanders. The poem describes her journey over various landscapes and beings, suggesting she find refuge with someone who loves her best. The imagery evokes themes of escape, travel, and seeking love or solace.

This piece reflects traditional themes of separation, longing, and journey, commonly found in folklore.
