My neighbour has fast growing conifer trees that are on the boarder of our gardens..
They grow so fast.. Because they face the sun (my side) they grow quicker and thicker..  The local hedge cutter has quoted around 800 to take them right back..
He said that I was responsible for the growth hanging over my side..
.. and the neighbour.. !! Very little growth his side..

What are the rules about hedges and trees growing over into someone else's garden.. ?
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

AFAIK it's your responsibility I'm afraid, although you should offer him any clippings or cuttings taken from his plants, in case he wants them.

Also, the spelling is "border"😬😬😬😬😬

Ooh, you've touched on a nerve with this one, Scrumpy.

Firstly, I believe we have to offer all the cuttings back from a neighbours trees because they are his trees, and it can be interpreted as 'stealing.'

I've had all this with two of my neighbours,  been going on for years.   My useless, bone idle insurance company at the time eventually got someone to come out and dig down, and 7 different lots of tree roots were found to be growing under my kitchen floor!    My kitchen wall was cracking.

It took around 7 years of me arguing and even involving the Ombudsman in the end,  who was the most helpful of the lot.

One neighbour removed a huge Willow tree,  and another removed a gigantic Walnut tree  but all the damn  Conifers are still there.  These are miles taller than my roof now, and the local council won't lift a finger to help me.

It makes me sick to have to pay a firm to come in and cut these trees back when they are not even my trees.  They should be made to be responsible for their own trees and not expect us to pay the bill.

Mups and Scrumpy, if you ever decide to move house, then as soon as contracts are exchanged, say it with flowers and plant some japanese knotweed right by the party fence.

It seems to be debatable whether that actually works or not.

Anyway,  I don't think it would be a good idea to go trespassing into their gardens to start hammering nails in the tree trunks,  do you?   You trying to get me arrested?

Who said anything about tree trunks Mups?  Go straight for his head.  The copper should keep slugs off his carcass for a while to let you make an even further escape while the knotweed kicks into place, along with the invasive bamboo which you could also plant.
