So,  Cass, what was the final total amount raised at this laudable charity event?  Any chance of you sending some over to us in Blighty, since I suspect that we're not going to have quite as much disposable income very shortly.

The higher tax goes the more the benefits bill goes up.

I never covered statistics at school and in good data modelling tradition have no real world numbers to input but I'd guess that the correlation exceeds r=0.9

Those who claim benefits use a slightly different model.

They look at what take-home wage they'll get & then check what benefits they could get so it goes along the lines of take-home pay £400 per week & benefits £350 per week.

Their thought process is sod that, I'm not working 40 hours for 50 quid!!

That's a very good point, and I can see why so many these days opt for going on benefits.
To be honest, I'm not sure how the system works these days.  When I had a few weeks of unemployment several years ago, there were forms and interviews to complete and it was very difficult to obtain any payments even for such a short period.
Today, I suspect that there are so many excuses (mental issues?) which may result in no questions asked, just regular hand-outs.

Excellent analysis.  Reject the null hypothesis and there is sufficient "guesstimate" evidence to suggest there is a correlation.

Anyway, that aside, it has fascinated me for a long time how micro input can lead to macro outcomes.  Kinda like the butterfly effect.

In the end as the bastards looked like doing a bit too well to raise us a decent sum, we took an average of the odds over here and ended up with a start figure of 125 seats. So that was $4k for a start. Then I was delighted to pay personally for that creep Ellwood getting the sack. Add on Mordaunt and Schapps etc we got to $8K. Then my friend, the old England Test Player went down the garden and brought back a few of his old Bats that had been with him at famous times in his career. I then remembered some oil paintings of English Test grounds and other bric a brac etc, which we auctioned,

I presented our Animal Rescue with just over $10k this morning. Not bad for 63 odd people.

But seeing the party of biggest liars utterly humiliated was so satisfying to me.

All in all a 'capital' night and meant so many poor little creatures got the help they needed.

We're doing it again (this time afloat on the Lake) the night of The American Election in November!

Excellent is the word.  :upvote:

Well done Cassandra, I get daily posts from the Rainbow Bridge forum on Reddit & most of them are from Americans.

Apparently rescue dogs don't fair too well if they aren't adopted in a certain length of time & are put on the Rainbow Bridge list, hence the name I suspect.

The stories do have a happy end though as the one's featured get good forever homes.

Yes Phil I'd say that unfortunately as in the UK, dogs became 'Covid fancies'. Designer dogs fetched ridiculous prices online. I'd have them all I'm afraid a bit like Paul o'Grady, a man who loved Dogs too. Obviously I can't do that, but by helping in these ways, reaches people who need love and companionship. In January a  workmate of my housekeeper 'Tillie', lost his wife to cancer in her mid fifties and wanted a constant companion. He sold his home and invested in a plot of land on which he erected a 'kit-home' bungalow and a full 'garage' for his brand new Supertrailer truck - it's a monster.

Since then he and his Doggy pal from us (as a rescue) now reach out together right across the USA and are inseperable. (see pic)
