Sir Alan Bates....  Well done.. Much deserved..
I don't go in for all this Sir stuff.. But this man is exceptional.

No sign of Beckham... again..  :embarrassed:
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Certainly stuck to his path and stood up for the rights of himself and others.

A good guy yes, but how long must we endure this 'honours list '  kings birthday, new year shambles. Not forgetting retiring PMs giving us more members of the HoL,  must be nearing a thousand of them in there !

Sirs just get the title. No lifelong meal ticket. I'm guessing you knew that anyway though.

It's a peerage that gets them into the House of lords.. I bet there are some 'back handers'  being plotted in there over a class brandy.. Which is a freebie ,I should imagine..
Don't ask me.. I know nuffink..

Pleased about Sir Alan Bates, a real hero.  Tracey Emin?
Its not how old you are, but how you are old. 💖

Yes, I know the difference but I added the not forgetting bloody house of lords because I think that also needs shaking up.

I fully agree.  The Lords needs drastically reducing in size and composition.
I know I have said this before, but the Lords comprise well over 800 members now.  In comparison, the US upper house is limited to 100, and that is in a country of over four times our population.
The Lords is intended to be a reviewing and limiting organisation to exercise some control over the Commons.  Why on earth does it need so many members, then?
Why? Because quite simply it is a means of looking after the establishment once they are out of office.  The vast majority of them are totally unnecessary.

I am just pleased that (greedy) Beckham didn't get a mention..
