What was the band called Sheila  ?   I only went to the Cavern once and that was a lunchtime, I don't think I was too impressed

I saw the Hollies, absolutely loved them. Johnny Kidd & The Pirates, Eden Kane, and the Bay City Rollers who used to play in our local dance hall before they were famous.  I wasn't really a fan though.

I went to see the Hollies in 2000 at The Regent Theatre in Ipswich. My friend the Essex Cricketer 'Ray East' was in the audience and knew them well He got me an invite back to where they were staying at The Holiday Inn for a prvate coctail party. It was the last time the great Alan Clarke sung, in fact he had a little 'booster' on his Mike controlled from a little box he wore at the rear of his belt. At last his wonderful voice was as he said that night 'clapped out'. He concluded with 'He ain't heavy'which bought the house down, little did the fans know he'd never sing it again ans was in fact saying farewell.

Interestingly, I learnt that Tony Hicks (lead guitar) was the 'commercial brains' and in fact 'owns' 'The Hollies'.

The Hollies is one band I really regret not being able to see live. I loved their stuff.
Alan's voice has recovered enough for him to make a other album, it was released a wee while ago, This is "Buddy's Back" the single that was released from it.

I liked 'The Air that I Breathe', and 'Carrie Anne' although I suspect it might not quite PC these days. Of course, 'He Ain't Heavy' is a classic.  Their harmonies were brilliant. I saw them perhaps in 1965 or 66.

I was married and had 2 small ankle biters when this guy bounced into the charts, I would have listened to this song all day. As for himself.......Right up my street.

This was the last concert I was actually at, was in the audience when the video was made. They are still my favourite Scottish Band but the lineup has changed over the years. This though is the original band that I loved. The keyboard player "Pete Wishart" is now my Perth Counciler and I know him quite well. He's a lot nicer than the one we have up in Thurso.
