I hope so. At the moment I'm being hounded almost daily by Scottish Power to change to a Smart Meter.

how many inspectors, or what ever they might be called, would be needed to implement such a policy? Perhaps they'll use the Army!
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

As someone who ran an electrical company I can can confirm what he says about the Energy Act is true & correct.

While he can be accused of sensationalising his presentation of the subject matter, nevertheless all the things he's highlighted are contained in the Act as 'being able to be done' which is not quite the same as saying they will actually be done.

My view is why would the Government create legislation that will never be used?

Well of course they wouldn't, what will happen, in my opinion, is that all these features will be drip fed into operation over a period of several years.

The starting point about smart meters is already in force.

If your electricity bills suddenly sky rocket & you complain, your electricity provider will check your meter & if it's faulty they'll replace it, but only with a smart meter.

Of course they can't force you to have a smart meter so they'll disconnect your power supply & leave you with no electricity.

Also, not having a smart meter will not save you from having your supply cut off if distribution rationing is required, what will happen is that entire areas will be cut off.

I'm telling you that the legislation gives them the power to do so, should they wish to use it.

That power already exists where your meters are inside your house since entry can be forced in the case of an emergency where, in most cases, the gas supply has to be cut off.

The fact that these powers are not commonly used doesn't mean they'll never become commonplace.
