Microsoft Edge problems

When I opened my computer this morning, and opened Edge, I was greeted by a 'New Edge' page.
The real problem was that all my regular use tabs had vanished and I have been unable to get them back.
I eventually managed to find them all (12 of them) and bit by bit opened them in the Chrome browser, which I used to use a year or two ago but moved to Edge because I preferred the layout of favourites.
I shall now use Chrome, of course, but wonder whether there is any way of restoring the Edge which I used to have until today.
I did try to search Microsoft help pages, but no help at all.
Does anyone, please, have any idea how to restore the old Edge browser, complete with favourites?

Well, apart from the new front page, what was lacking was all of my tabs, which were for regularly used web sites.

I set up Chrome again, and the 11 tabs which I once had on Edge, and began to use that browser.

I have since managed to find and include the same 11 sites which I had back on to Edge, which I prefer because I find the 'favourites' system to be easier to access.

However, although I use Edge once again, I shall keep Chrome active and up to date, simply because I really can't trust Microsoft now!
I have also thought about 'updating' to Windows 11, but after this experience with Edge, I'm sticking with Windows 10 for as long as I can.

If a browser fails to shut down correctly it won't always save the tabs that were open so it can reopen them when next started. If something opens a new window rather than a new tab then you'll have two instances ot the browser running and if the instance with just one tab closes last you've lost the others.

That applies to any browser. Relying on always getting back previously open tabs will lead to disappointments as you have found.  Irritating but if you reliably store favourite URLs getting going again is no problem.

I gave up on using browser favourites years ago and wrote my own home page that holds and displays by group all my favourite URLs. The advantage is that is available anywhere on any browser.
