It's mostly old cars that don't comply and I doubt those drivers will be in city centre hotels.

It's crap but not as crap as you may think.

We went through Glasgow as we stopped off there but we wouldn't have at 60 quid a time.

Very possible, 30 years ago I knew Glasgow extremely well as I was there almost weekly, but I can't quite remember the roads around the river area now. If your coming a quick phone call to the AA or the Glasgow Police will keep you right.

From what I remember most of the centre of Glasgow is pedestrian-only use so cars go in one of the big car parks nearby. We always left ours in the one at the top of Ingram St, about a 10 minute walk to the centre coming into Argyle St. You will find it all on Google Earth layout.

Quote from: Raven on June 09, 2023, 11:41:31 AMIt's the centre of Glasgow only, but you can easily bypass Glasgow on the motorway. Just keep coming up to Stirling and then turn over to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, and take the coast road North. It's not a problem.

Glasgow's LEZ is approximately one square mile in size. It covers an area of the city centre bounded by the M8 motorway to the north and west, the River Clyde to the south and Saltmarket/High Street to the east. The M8 motorway is not included within Glasgow's LEZ.
Yes, thanks.  I'd like to go via Stirling anyway, as I'd like to see the castle.

it's well worth a look!
Oh, and anyone any idea how old a car has to be to fall foul of this idiocy? My current Mondeo and its predecessor, 21 and 19 respectively would be OK, not that I have the slightest intention of driving into Glasgow, but the website enables one to check if your vehicle would be OK.
Thank you for the days, the days you gave me

We used to onto the Great Western Road, but circumstances dictate that it's unlikely that I'll get back up the Scotland.

I think you did as I checked ours & it showed our Peugeot 307 Sport as being compliant.

ULEZ Compliant  Yes. ULEZ compliant

Which is odd when it's emission rating is  CO₂ emissions 174 g/km.

As it was registered in 2007 we pay £290 per year road tax but a new car with the same emission rating would be charged £1040 per year.

An absolute scandal!!!!!

I think it's particulates and oxides of nitrogen that cause ULEZ  fails not CO2. Old diesels are fuel efficient but weren't fitted with particulate filters so they would fail.

Good point, but it's funny how the road tax has shot up for cars registered after 1st April 2017.

It is all one dirty great swindle mainly to put you off the idea.
Not that a few particulates makes any difference to anything, it's just that our government hates us.

It's like that lunatic black woman who chose to live on a really congested London road & then complained when the traffic emissions caused her daughter's asthma to worsen.

Did the total idiot never think of moving after her daughter's 100th attack?

Well, there's no need for them to use foul language.
