Blackpool Zoo is trying to recruit human 'seagull deterrents' who will dress up in bird costumes to scare them away

The full job advert reads: 'At Blackpool Zoo it goes without saying that we love all animals! And as a seaside resort, Blackpool is not short of seagulls.

'However, the seagulls are proving to be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to trying to steal food from our visitors and our animal enclosures!

'We need to do what we can to keep the seagulls away from our main visitor dining areas, which is why we are looking for a team of people to join our Visitor Services team as "Seagull Deterrents".'

The zoo is looking for people who are visitor focused, friendly, energetic and flexible.

Blackpool is well-known for its cheeky seagulls which routinely steal food from locals and tourists alike.

We could get Brian along.  He's off with the birds.

You wouldn't get me back in Blackpool if they were paying £100,000..... well, maybe for £100,000 I might consider it  :yay:

Last time I was in Blackpool was when my wife booked us in a hotel to see the lights as a birthday treat. I noticed as we drove in that there weren't many lights on so asked the receptionist when they came on. She said September. My birthday is in December.  :nooo:

Spent the weekend evenings boozing. Impressed my wife by singing along to all the karaoke songs but didn't get quite drunk enough to take the mike. She was amazed that I knew all the words. Well she was until she saw the screen on the wall behind her.

Some spectacular drag queens outside some of the pubs. Didn't dare try those.

Ashy

Well you saw the lights in the pub.

DO you know the first Blackpool Illuminations were just street lights, but it was one of the very first boroughs to use electric lights and they found they attracted visitors.

I remember gas street lights in London well into the 1960s.

Well that's no good ... it doesn't say what the pay is.
I even looked it up on Indeed and even on there money is not mentioned .. .

Years ago I remember there was a job advertised at one of the National Trust stately homes for the summer season, they wanted an anchorite, you had to sit in a cave, suitably dressed in a robe.... ideally able to look the part, no make=up and long scraggy hair .... and  ideally have your own car.

Jacqueline

Some bad hair days I could scare the birds without dressing up!!!!
